Late last week, Apple unleashed its
new iPad on the world, and in this issue of
Distro we'll let our review of the high-res tablet loose on you. While the iPad may be out in front in terms of sales today, our Weekly Stat shows that the army of Android competitors may surpass it by 2016. We'll give one of those soldiers, the Acer Iconia Tab A200, the review treatment in this issue, as well as Wacom's latest tablet of another sort, the Intuos5 Touch, and Samsung's rugged handset, the Rugby Smart. Also on offer in our 33rd edition are a host of regular exclusives: Recommended Reading, Switched On, a Q&A with Tekzilla's Patrick Norton and the
comic stylings of Box Brown. So grab the tablet of your choosing and hit the appropriate download link below, but make sure to update your app if you're sporting Apple's latest slate -- we've optimized Distro for high-res viewing.

As you probably know, we're in a lot of exclusive, behind-closed-doors briefings of products that won't find their way to retail availability for months to come. We do our best in every post to give you the full experience and virtually bring you along with us, but for the first time we're doing something different. Next week, Panasonic will be giving the media an up-close look at some of its biggest home entertainment products shipping later this year, including the 55-inch
WT50 IPS LCD and the
VT50 plasma (successor to last year's
HDTV of the Year). This time, we've been given permission to take a lucky few of you along for the ride.
The event takes place next Tuesday, March 27th in New York City at 7:00pm. To get a chance to attend, you need to email nycevents [at] engadget.com with your full name. If you make it, we'll respond back with details on the event, but it'll be up to you to find your way to Manhattan.
Winners will not only get to check out Panasonic's 2012 line of cameras, HDTVs, Blu-ray players and other home entertainment products but a few particularly lucky attendees will get to take some of them home. Yes, there will be giveaways, and they'll be good ones.
Here are the deets:
- The event is open to those 18 and older.
- The event begins at 7:00pm and will run for approximately two hours.
- This is not first-come-first-serve, so there will be no need to line up.
- Please bring a photo ID and your confirmation with you for admission.
Send those emails in soon, and we hope to see you next week!
Update: We've received more than enough entries, so we're halting acceptance of new ones for now. We'll let you know if we need to re-open the flood gates!

With the Ultrabook onslaught in full effect, manufacturers are doing their best to make their Air opponents stand out from the crowd. For its part, HP has outfitted its ultra offering, the Envy 14 Spectre, with a touch of glass and NFC baked-in. In this issue of
Distro we'll find out if those two additions are enough to make it worth the $1,400 starting price. Also in this issue, Sean Buckley reports from GDC 2012 with a look at the
portable gaming industry's "big three." In addition, we put HTC's Sense UI 3.6 and Sony's Xperia S to the test, Tango's Eric Setton takes on the Q&A and Box Brown draws a Last Word with the drinksman in mind. So grab yourself a beverage and get to downloading.

While a handful of Engadget editors braved the show floor in Barcelona, we here at
Distro HQ were busy trying to keep pace with the insane amount of news coming out of
Mobile World Congress 2012. Fittingly, issue 30 of our fine weekly is packed to the rafters with the best and latest in mobile technology. Also in this issue, Tim Stevens gives us his detailed impressions of Microsoft's Windows 8 consumer preview; we pick apart the long-awaited refresh of BlackBerry PlayBook OS; and Dante Cesa dives into Razer's first gaming laptop, the Blade. Plus, we grill Mobile Burn founder Michael Oryl for the Distro Q&A; Donald Melanson offers his latest reading recommendations; we get real for IRL; and Box Brown reveals a handful of Siri Easter eggs for Last Word.

Without hesitation, February always seems to be the most hectic time of the year for the mobile industry, thanks primarily to the annual Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona, Spain. The show has long been considered the proper venue for phone and tablet vendors to show off their latest and greatest innovations. Naturally, the internet is been set ablaze with plenty of rumors and even a few official product announcements from companies hoping to benefit from some solid pre-show buzz.
In this guide we'll take you on a tour and walk through the hardware we already know will be shown off at MWC, as well as what we should likely expect to see and the things we'd really love to hear more about but probably won't. Join us after the break, won't you?

The Engadget Show has just hit the big 3-0, and to celebrate, we're stretching out our legs in a more spacious locale. Yep, we're hitting the Times Center this month, but don't worry, we've got plenty of show to fill up the space. We'll be kicking things off by checking out February's hottest gadgets, including the
Droid 4,
AT&T's Galaxy Note, the
PlayStation Vita and Apple's newly announced OS X
Mountain Lion.
Next up, Brian takes a trip to Toy Fair in NYC and comes back with a table full of some of the coolest products of the show -- helicopter flying and water pellet gunfire ensue. Then we head to Asbury Park, NJ to check out the Silverball Museum, for some Springsteen-worshiping pinball action, and Michael Gorman visits the Googleplex in Mountain View, to get to the bottom of Google Translate. We cap the show off with a performance and conversation with DJ Spooky, who tells us all about his iPad app and his latest project,
The Book of Ice.
